DRIA Nursing Cover- Interview Series

Interview Series on the DRIA Breastfeeding Cover

We hope you enjoyed last week’s interview with Christy. Over the next few weeks we will be interviewing breastfeeding moms who use the DRIA Cover as their breastfeeding cover of choice. We asked our DRIA Cover moms why they chose to breastfeed and how the DRIA Cover has helped them through the process. As advocates of breastfeeding, we think it is important to give a voice to our customers and why they support breastfeeding.

Second Interview- Ashley DePiano

This week’s interview is with Ashley DePiano. Ashley has found comfort in nursing in public with her Laguna DRIA Cover without the sweat and challenges that other covers presented. Here is what Ashley has to say:

What was your main purpose for purchasing the DRIA Cover?

When I first tried nursing out of the house, I used a cover that looked like a big infinity scarf. It was terribly difficult to put on and undo my shirt while wrangling a newborn. It frustrated me so much. I decided I would never nurse out of the house again, which was impractical. After some research, I decided to invest in a different cover, DRIA. Since DRIA, nursing in public has not been a problem at all. In less than 15 seconds I can set up everything under the cover and get my little jellyfish of a baby latched in under a minute. DRIA is a multi-use cover that didn’t make me sweat like the previous cover I had. Another bonus is that I can use it as a stroller cover

Why did you choose DRIA Cover over other nursing cover products?

I chose DRIA after about 6 days of reading reviews. Most are like infinity scarves, which frankly don’t work. I loved the poncho idea, it was ingenious! It’s kind of like a tablecloth with a hole in it, which is perfect for covering what you need, but not what you don’t.

What aspects of the company and/or product do you believe makes it most worth your investment?

DRIA is made of good quality material, and is made in the USA! That was big for me. My husband believes in only buying American-made goods because the quality is usually far superior. Instead of having to wrap myself in it, I love that the DRIA Cover just kind of falls over me.

Why did you decide to breastfeed your baby versus other options? Why do you believe breastfeeding is important?

For my baby and I breastfeeding came easy and natural from day one. It’s the healthier and cheaper option. The biggest factor was that it seemed natural to both of us right from the start. I had to have an emergency C-Section. My daughter was on antibiotics for the first 4 days of her life. After she was born, I was determined to replenish as many antibodies and gut flora as I could. Breastfeeding gave my baby a good start to a healthy lifestyle.

What has been the most challenging part of nursing and how have you learned to deal with those obstacles?

The most challenging part for me has been timing of feeds and pumping. Explaining feeding to others was not easy either. My husband, mother-in-law and babysitter would feed the baby an hour before I came home from work. Ready to feed when I got home, I would have to pump because the baby wasn’t hungry. Then, by the next feed I wouldn’t have enough milk.

I learned to lay out a strict schedule and explaining to each caregiver how milk production works and my aversion to pumping. It hasn’t really been a problem since!

How has the DRIA Cover contributed to your motherhood experience?

I literally use it for everything. It’s made nursing easier, keeping the baby shady on stroller rides, and caught spit up before it goes on my shirt. I always tell my friends who are expecting, “There are about 10 things we use on a daily basis, so don’t be tempted to overbuy all the stuff Buy Buy Baby is telling you to.” And DRIA is one of those 10 things we use on a daily basis for sure!

DRIA Cover allows Ashley to breastfeed her baby comfortably, without the hassle and sweat of other nursing covers. Other nursing covers made her almost give up on breastfeeding in public. Ashley has had no problem breastfeeding in public since using her DRIA Cover. She even recommends the DRIA Cover to her expecting friends as one of the top 10 things they will use on a daily basis.

Thank you, Ashley, for sharing your DRIA Cover story and for sharing your experiences as a breastfeeding mother! At DRIA Cover, our hope is to make the motherhood experience easier. We believe that discussion and communication is important to motherhood.
